Milazzo Film Festival 2024 Attorstudio: Lino Banfi special guest of the tenth edition

At the Milazzo Film Festival 2024 Attorstudio, Lino Banfi will be the guest of honor, but many other guests are expected. In fact, on stage will also be the actors Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Matteo Caccia, Michele Riondino, Caterina De Angelis and the journalist from La7, Alessandra Sardoni.

MILAZZO. Lino Banfi will be the guest of honor at the tenth edition of the film festival Milazzo Film FestivalAttorstudio. Banfi, considered one of the greatest comedians in Italian cinema since the days of Totò, will receive the Excellence Acting Award, the same award that will be given to Fabrizio Bentivoglio. It is the actors who are the protagonists of the innovation that has led the festival to change its dates and rethink its identity by choosing to explore and celebrate performers and the art of acting, for which in Italy there is no real festival dedicated to them. But Banfi and Bentivoglio, two actors from different generations and personalities, both very loved by the public, will not be the only major talents: alongside them will be Michele Riondino (Acting Award), Caterina De Angelis (A Star Is Born Award), the theatrical actor and radio host Matteo Caccia (Il Racconto Award), and the journalist of La7 Alessandra Sardoni (Media & Culture Award) who will animate the four days of the festival. “This is a festival that wants to show how, beyond the theatrical scene and the set, other media, such as the web and television, now require stage presence, storytelling ability, and the use of the body, which are traditional tools of the actor.” The festival this year is signed by Caterina Taricano and Mario Sesti. The program was revealed today during a press conference by the two artistic directors, who spoke about the events planned for each evening and the films that will be screened in preview as part of the event. It starts on Thursday, February 29, and goes on until Sunday, March 3, at the Teatro Trifiletti with free entrance to all events

“We agreed to direct the Milazzo Film Festival,” say the artistic directors, who have a long experience in major festivals such as the Rome Film Festival and the Turin Film Festival, “because we felt an energy and passion on the territory that can make the Milazzo Film Festival Attorstudio one of the most important Sicilian festivals. What will those who follow our festival find? The involvement of schools and institutions, a schedule that includes live performances and conversations, screenings of unreleased films in the area, and the gala awards ceremony: the program has been designed to create four days in which anyone who comes to Teatro Trifiletti will find, for free, a rich offer of cultural and entertainment events.”

Milazzo Film Festival 2024 Attorstudio, Lino Banfi guest of honor, Antonio Napoli: “The festival changes its dates and location”

“This year,” specifies Antonio Napoli, one of the organizers, “the festival changes its period and location. No longer in the summer and now at the recently renovated Teatro Trifiletti, made available by the Municipality of Milazzo, which has sponsored the event, together with the Capo Milazzo Marine Protected Area and the Ecomuseum. And precisely to stay connected with themes related to the AMP, we chose to dedicate our event to sustainability and various environmental issues. My thanks go to everyone who supports us every year, especially the sponsors.”
Meanwhile, anticipation grows for the world premiere in Milazzo of the monologue “Piccolo Almanacco dell’Attore” by Fabrizio Bentivoglio, a sort of rehearsal that the actor has chosen to perform for the first time right in Milazzo on Friday, March 1. Bentivoglio will also receive the “Excellence Acting Award” during the same evening. On Saturday, after the screening of the film “L’allenatore nel pallone,” directed by Sergio Martino (Italy – 1984 – 98’), at 7:45 PM, there will be an event titled “Porca puttena: Che grande attore!” with Lino Banfi. The “Excellence Acting Award” will be presented right after. Immediately following (at 8:30 PM), “Il ragazzo del mondo” – Meeting with Michele Riondino and the presentation of the “Acting Award.” On Sunday, during the final evening, there will be “Lo Scarabeo d’Argento – culture & media” and “A Star Is Born”: a conversation with La7 journalist Alessandra Sardoni and Caterina De Angelis (actress and daughter of Margherita Buy) with the award ceremony. The festival will close with the screening of the film “Volare,” directed by Margherita Buy (Italy – 2023 – 100’). However, the program will also include the world premiere screening of the film Martedì e Venerdì by Fabrizio Moro and Alessio De Leonardis, and Castelrotto by Damiano Giacomelli, with Giorgio Colangeli and Fabrizio Ferracane, which was presented in world premiere at the Turin Film Festival.

Sunday afternoon program: selection of the 153 short films

During the four days, the competing short films in the international competition will be screened. This year, 153 short films from 30 countries have participated. The mornings with students will be entrusted to the organizers of the Giffoni Film Festival. An event within the event. Many local schools have joined the initiative. The moment dedicated to the students has been structured into two interactive modules. These are two performances in which the students themselves will perform. That’s why it’s interactive. The two modules are for high school students and middle school students. The Giffoni Film Festival is a film festival for children and young people, held every year in July, lasting ten days, in Giffoni Valle Piana, in Salerno province. It was founded in 1971 by then-18-year-old Claudio Gubitosi, who is still its director. The spirit of the event is to promote and raise awareness of cinema for young people. Three exhibitions will be set up: one by Italia Nostra, one by Fabio Itri, and one curated by the Capo Milazzo AMP.
