The lineup of guests for the new edition of the Milazzo Film Festival, scheduled from March 25 to 28, continues to grow. Ficarra and Picone will take the stage at the Teatro Trifiletti in Milazzo during the opening evening.
Following Monica Guerritore, whose film “Anna” will open the festival’s previews, and Laura Morante, Marco Risi, Alberto Palmiero and Gaia Nugnes, the two artistic directors Caterina Taricano and Mario Sesti reveal the names of the other actors and authors who will take part in the new edition of the Milazzo festival, now in its twelfth year and once again supported by the Municipality of Milazzo.
The Sicilian comedy duo, fresh from the success of their new TV series “Sicilia Express“, which aired on Netflix on December 5, 2025, will receive the Excellence Acting Award.
«It is an honor and a pleasure to present Ficarra and Picone with the award at ATTORSTUDIO – Milazzo Film Festival: at Medusa we know their talent well; as a viewer I love their innovative comedy and their passion for entertaining and intelligent cinema», says Giampaolo Letta, Vice President and CEO of Medusa Film and now also head of Mediaset’s seriality division, who will travel to Milazzo specifically to present the award to the two Sicilian actor-authors.
«We are delighted to receive this award at ATTORSTUDIO Milazzo Film Festival. It is wonderful that there is now a festival dedicated to actors and acting, which has already welcomed important names from film and theatre to the stage of the Teatro Trifiletti in previous editions, and we are truly honored to be recognized alongside them. We thank Mario Sesti and Caterina Taricano for this and for the esteem that the award represents», said Ficarra and Picone in response to the prize they will receive in Milazzo.
Ficarra and Picone are well-known figures to the wider film-going public, thanks to the success of their movies. From the 2002 film “Nati Stanchi“and the 2007 “Il 7 e l’8“, in which they star and direct, with a total box office of 7.7 million euros and nominations for the David di Donatello and the Silver Ribbon for Best Debut Director. In 2009, “La Matassa“was released, followed by “Anche se è amore non si vede“, “Andiamo a quel paese“, “L’Ora Legale“, and “Il primo Natale“, which grossed 15,350,224 euros at the box office, winning the David di Donatello audience award for the highest-grossing film of the season. Then in 2023 came “Santocielo“, written by the duo and directed by Francesco Amato. Their hosting of Striscia la Notizia and their productions for Netflix have also been hugely significant.
In short, thanks in part to these distinguished names, anticipation is growing in Milazzo for an event that becomes more prestigious every year and brings artists of great renown to the City of the Cape.
The two directors are still working to finalize the program, which may include further guests to be announced soon.
